My class just finished, and as my 7th graders were putting their new music folders into neat piles on their tables, one kid (inevitably--there's always that one kid, God help me) said, "Do we put our name on it?" Every once in a while, I can't help myself. "No! Don't put your name on it. I don't want to give you credit for doing your work!" "So...do we put our name on it?" *Sigh* |

You know what they say; sarcasm is the body’s natural defense against stupid. ;)
My oldest takes everything literally. Sarcasm is always lost on him.
I know by now that most 7th/8th graders don't get sarcasm, but every once in a while I just have to try it!
Besides, I am of the opinion (as are 99.9% of all teachers I've talked to about this) that by 7th grade, a child should KNOW that they need to put their name on their work!! : P
My oldest is 10 (yeah, I know! he's so old!), but my 8yo and 6yo would get it and laugh. It's not just the age, it's the child. LOL
