Monday Music: The Beach Boys

I love this song. It took on special meaning when I strutted down a makeshift "catwalk" to it at my school in England (waaay back in 2004).

The premise was simple--after hearing, one time too many, kids asking if I'd met any celebrities, growing up in California, I decided to subtly poke fun at them by participating in the Staff Fashion Show (we raised money for charity) as a "celebrity" being pursued by the "papparazzi" (my brave buddy, Stuart, a Design and Technology teacher and fellow Year 12 mentor). Ruth loaned me a faux fur vest, and I strutted around putting lipstick on and tried to avoid getting caught by Stuart's camera. It was great fun.

Anyway, today's Monday Music is devoted to "California Girls," which is, in my humblest of opinions, one of the best songs the Beach Boys ever did.
