The Dark Side

I officially went there. I had my hairdresser take me back to my roots. She matched it up and gave me a "richer" version of my natural hair color. The truth is revealved, dear readers: This California Girl is not a natural blonde (but she was as a child!).

Right after getting my hair done, I drove straight back to Stockton, to the gym. I arrived about one minute before the monthly Boot Camp class started. It was a brutal hour of squats, lunges, push-up position exercises, and Burpees. Before we started, I showed off my much-darker ponytail to G. the Meanie (who, you might recall, had quite and emphatic opinion about my hair color and widow's peak on Tuesday). His girlfriend said, "I like your hair--it makes your eyes pop!" And it really does.

The reviews on Facebook have been very positive...and most importantly, *I* like it. It's still a shock to see myself in the mirror, but I do like how dramatic it looks. The picture above is from tonight. I went to see an opera (Aaron Copland's "The Tender Land") with Summer, and wore green eye makeup and red lipstick. Figure I might as well play up those popping eyes!

Fifteen minutes after the opera started, I felt my cell phone buzz with an incoming text message. I waited until intermission to check it, and found the following text from my opinionated trainer: "Love the hair."

Well, I can rest easy tonight. :P

My hairstylist tells me that the color will fade quickly, because it was so light before she dyed it. I will have to touch it up in May. But the maintenance on this is soooo much easier than highlights. And my hair doesn't feel as dry as it normally does after getting it colored, because there was no bleach involved today.

Change is good. :)

You look lovely Meg!When I went brunette after a few red months, it was so weird seeing myself in mirrors...Do you get that too?

Thank you!

Yes, I've done many a double-take in the last 24 hours! It's a very dramatic difference.

I like it, I really like it! From one who has gone to the dark side herself, I so understand the "who's that in the mirror" syndrome! It'll pass! It's a great look for you, Meg!

Thanks, Lisa and Brit! It's a fun change, and quite drastic without sacrificing the length, which I love.
