Last week, I had a text from Meghan, telling me she needs an adventure, had two days off, and was thinking of either Brodie, CA (a ghost town), or Santa Cruz. I voted for Santa Cruz and we made plans for Tuesday.
So yesterday, we started off at 7:00 in the morning with her cool daughter, The Roz (age: almost 11) for a day of fun.
We arrived in Santa Cruz by 10:00 and promptly found a coffee shop to fortify ourselves with caffeine and something to eat (after a quick trip to a shop to buy Roz a Santa Cruz hoodie).
Typical...start off the day with a sign pic. |
Gee, wonder why I took a pic of a random street sign. |
NorCal pride, people. NorCal pride... |
Roz is her mother's daughter. : )
(This is a good thing.) |
They made my hot chocolate fancy. |
We wandered around downtown Santa Cruz for a while. I snapped a bunch of pictures of signs and buildings and other random stuff.
We wandered over to check this out. It's
in memory of victims of war. |
Finally the morning fog started lifting,
revealing a glorious day. |
Taken because of the DUCKS!! |
One of the shops we poked around in had an abundance of duck (and other) stuff. I was having a ball. I can't imagine who buys it all (what
does one do with underpants for squirrels?) but it's fun to look at.
"One thing you need to know, Cali. Not all
duckies are good." |
Even Meghan had to agree that with two cats,
I don't qualify. |
If the mustache bandages had not been sold out, I would have
bought some. |
Downtown Santa Cruz had plenty of diversions, but we had plans. We made our way to the Santa Cruz mission...and that will be my next post.
