Random Pretty Things

One evening last week, I started taking random pictures around my apartment of things that make me happy. Today, I added to it by taking some pictures in Mom's sewing room. I share them here now.

I got a 5x7 print of this picture from Memorial Day and framed it.
Then I glued the poppy to it and voila!

This is what happens when Meg gets bored. At my
recent choir concerts, there was a long stretch in
which the women had to sit in the back while the Master
Chorale and Youth Chorale sang. I penciled and Illuminated
Letter design in and later colored it at home.

Then I hung it on my fridge.

My cheap-and-cheerful fruit bowls (from Home Goods!) make me
happy.

Vase: Home Goods. Silk Flowers: Michael's

Tea cup: Present from Mom. Plates and tier: Target.

A great running quote, bottom. On top: A post-it
from the very first piece of mail that Maayan ever
sent me--Richard from Keane's autograph.

On top of my computer hutch.

Eventually I want to put up a shelf just for Swimmy's Ladies stuff.
For now, my bookcase will have to suffice.

That "To Meg" makes me grin like an idiot.

Here at Mom and Dad's house, Mom has been busy making pillow cases for local hospitals. Her quilt guild got her involved in this. The theory is that kids and even older adults will appreciate a fun, pretty pillowcase to cheer up a hospital room. Mom is having so much fun making them.

Her latest, finished as I was happily clicking pictures...this one is for
a friend's grandkid.

Mom has a thing for polka dots...

This is NOT her whole collection of fabric. She has a shipload more.

Her latest project--a wall hanging.

A close-up of the colors.

I made this when Mom and Dad came back from their Asia cruise
last fall.

This shadow box was my Christmas gift to Mom. She loved it. It's
all stuff that belonged to her parents.

I can see where you get your artistic flair! (And that "M" is "M"-azing!!)
