...And that's only HALF of what we did on Tuesday!
I woke up before Meghan on Tuesday morning, so I set off for a wander around our hotel.
|
You know it's a classy hotel when they have a miniature putting green. |

And quotes on the benches. |

The restaurant. |
When we went to pay our bill, we found out that the small Danish town of Solvang was a mere two miles down the road, so we decided we had to go. We were both interested in seeing the mission there, and we happened upon it quite by accident when going to make a U-turn. We didn't go inside, but took some pictures of
Mission Santa Ines and surrounding.
Next, we parked in downtown Solvang and had a wander around its charming streets. Nothing was open yet, except for the Christmas shop and a few cafes and bakeries.

This is a phone booth!! |
|
I didn't buy anything here--I was tempted, though. |
|
Meghan gamely had her picture taken with Mr. Swimmy. |
|
Brilliant. |
|
We think these are speakers. They were all over. |
|
I, uh...yeah. I bought myself an accordion Christmas
ornament. Because of Ben Lovett. Oh, dear. |
After leaving Solvang, we decided it was a nice idea to drive the opposite direction to see
Mission La PurÃsima Concepción in Lompoc. It's a state park, so it's not a working mission anymore. Still, it was fun to look around.

Squirrel-in-the-hole!! |
Believe it or not, this is only about half of what we did on Tuesday. Another post will be coming with pictures from San Luis Obispo, the mission there, and yet another mission even further north. It was a very busy day!
