Unsolicited Stomach Update

Well, the good news is that the severe cramping stopped on Saturday night. I woke up on Sunday morning feeling more myself, and even attempted about five feet of running before giving up (God, my body was so achy and tired) and just walking for a mile.

However, I'm not completely back to normal yet. I'm still a little gassy (sorry, TMI, I know) and I have moments of discomfort. But overall, I feel much better and today, I even went back to the gym.

On my way to the locker room I ran into none other than Gershom, and told him a little of my recent woes. Two other people he knows have had recent bouts of what he termed "food poisoning." He gave me his special "smartass trainer" smile and said, "It's your eggs." (He didn't know that I've been eating a lot of eggs lately).

"That's what my mom said!"

So general consensus among everyone (sans Ph.D.'s) is that the eggs were, somehow, to blame. Honestly, I couldn't tell ya. I'm just glad to get back into my workout routine (stuck with StairMaster and lower body RT today).

I'm also going back to the basics, diet-wise. I'm going to start journalling again, and really being extra-careful to keep HFCS and other bad stuff out of my kitchen and diet. I have gotten a wee bit lazy over the last couple of months, and that needs to stop so that I can stop maintaining my weight (a reasonably healthy 160) and lose another 20 pounds or so. Besides, I feel better when I'm eating very well and working out regularly (read: at least five days a week, but more like 6 or 7 if I count some leisurely swimming and the regular housecleaning).

In other news, Chorale starts back tonight, and I offered to bring baked goods. Our new director has mandated that our traditional five-minute break should, instead, be a fifteen-minute break, with cookies. I like her style. Of course, cookies aren't exactly what I should be eating, but I figure a few once a week won't hurt anything. I'm going to make brownies for tonight, as at our Summer Sing, some people had brought bars and brownies in addition to the cookies. Variety is good, right?

Glad to hear you're doing better! i love eggs and I was a bit worried when I heard about that salmonella outbreak. It's like when there was that outbreak of e-coli in the bagged baby spinach that killed people. Intense.
