Seriously...is there anything better than those first lazy days of Summer Vacation? I feel so relaxed.
Now, however, comes the interesting process of making a back-up plan, just in case my job is cut in August. I am not ruling out taking a job in Oregon (accepts CA credentials) or Washington (doesn't, but I've got a WA music credential).
California, my friends, is a mess.

No kidding. I just got done writing a rant, um, I mean post for tomorrow about that very subject. You're lucky that you can get out! I'm stuck here until I'm finished with school.
I *might* get out. Nothing is set in stone at this point. I'm just exploring options and opening what doors I can.
Anywhere's a mess right now, I think. Sigh. I hope things work out for you, teaching music and art is way more important than people give it credit for.
But California is WORSE than most places. We're seriously in trouble, budget-wise. I had an email from Planned Parenthood this morning about the cutting of funds for women's health in the state.
Normally I'd be outraged. I'd write to my congressperson and legislator, and make a donation for the cause.
But honestly? My reaction is, "They're cutting everything. Nothing I can do. Sorry."
THEM WIMMINS ARE EXPENSIVE.
Never mind that preventive care is much fucking cheaper than taking care of illnesses when they're in full swing. That's fucking terrible of the Californian state, though, and a MAJOR fail.
