Recipe Idea: Pretzel Kisses

Mom and I are going to spend tomorrow baking with Lucy and Morgan, our former Folsom neighbors. Morgan is Mom and Dad's honorary grandchild. We were there when she came home from the hospital, a tiny infant, and as she grew, she would come over to our house to read with Mom and visit. She's seven now, and still a joy.

Tonight, Mom got the sugar cookie dough made up so it could chill over night. While she made that, I made Pretzel Kisses, a recipe my mom got from a friend recently that sounded really good.

Here's what you do.

Line a cookie sheet with wax or parchment paper (I suppose foil would work, too). Place bite-sized pretzel twists all over.

Next, put a caramel Hershey's Kiss on each pretzel (I used pumpkin spice Kisses on the bottom corner to see how they would turn out).

Don't forget to remove the wrappers.

Put them in the oven on low-ish heat for 4-5 minutes, and watch the Kisses start to sweat.

Right after taking them from the oven, smoosh a walnut into each Kiss, watching as melted chocolate and gooey caramel spill over the pretzel.

Turns out the pumpkin spice Kisses don't work too well--they don't melt as much, because they're not chocolate.

All you have to do after that is eat and enjoy. They take less than 15 minutes to make, and they're delicious.

Only three ingredients -- that's my kind of recipe! Sometimes simple is best. Yum.

Three relatively inexpensive ingredients, too!
