A Moment in History

I am excited tonight. There are so many things I can say, but I am so very tired from my excitement, that I think it is time for me to go to bed!

There is shock in some quarters, I know, and some anger and fear. I honestly believe, however, that America is still going to be one of the best places to live in the world. I'd feel that way if McCain had won.

Both men showed dignity and graciousness tonight. My hope is that the rest of the country will, as well. So far I am seeing comments that make me wince...but I remind myself that everyone is allowed an opinion, and that to me, my friendships are more important than political differences.

Well, it was an historic election even if I'm not happy with the outcome! I'm sorry that Obama's grandmother wasn't alive to watch him be elected; I'm sure it would have meant the world to her. Hard to believe that some 40 years ago we still had Jim Crow laws -- and now look: our first black president. That is something to celebrate. :)

Definitely! To each his own in terms of political views, but no one is denying that it's pretty amazing that a black man won. It's a step.
