Baltic Cruise 2019, Part 2: To Copenhagen

In case you were wondering, the flight from San Francisco to Copenhagen (direct) is about 10-11 hours. When you spend most of the flight with the teenager in front of you in your lap and moving all over the place in her seat, it's...really long.

But let's forget that. I really want to forget her and her whole family (her mom hogged the lav for about 30-40 minutes at one point).

We flew Scandinavian Air, and our trusty chariot was as comfortable as an airplane can be (which isn't saying much). We finally made it to Copenhagen, exited the airplane, and lined up for Passport Control...in front of a 7-Eleven.

I saw a lot of 7-Elevens in Scandinavia, and this amused me.

We were utterly exhausted, so we found our way to the hotel, and crashed for a bit.

But later, we were hungry and ready to explore. We only had a few hours to see anything in Copenhagen, so we took a taxi to Tivoli Gardens, a famous amusement park with great restaurants.

Dad and I, both delirious with jet lag.

We found a traditional Danish restaurant, and ate there. The meal was lovely (I had beef and vegetable stew with pickled beetroot and rye bread), and we were happy to finally get a proper meal in us.

After dinner, we wandered around just long enough to take some pictures and buy some post cards for my brother.

Look at these hyacinths!!

It can get chilly in Scandinavia, even in summer, so there are always lap
blankets and such provided.

After we left Tivoli Gardens, we took a taxi back to our hotel at the airport, and crashed again. Jet lag is real.

Sadly, this would be really all we would see of Copenhagen. Though we did have time the next day, before boarding the Regal Princess, we opted to sleep in and have a big lunch. Once we got to the ship, I was so enthralled, I didn't even think of going back out to have a look around the town.

This just means I'll have to go back. There are museums and sites I'd love to see!
