Facing Forward

For years, I was the master of the self-portrait. I hated having full-length pictures of myself, as my overweight body made me ashamed. I hated facing cold, hard evidence that I was big. So I only shared pictures of my face. Though round, it was cute enough. I had pretty eyes and a nice smile and good hair. It would have to be enough.

As the weight has come off, I've been less worried about that--I'm proud of my emerging muscles and my slimmed-down hourglass figure. But the most noticeable weight loss really seems to be in my face. I present a ton of self-portraits as evidence.

With all of these self-portraits of my face lined up, side-by-side, it's amazing to see how much progress I've made since February 2009.

This was 2007, on a trip to San Francisco with Shae. I was at my heaviest.

This was taken sometime in 2005, on one of my many rambling river
walks in my beloved Burnham-on-Crouch in England.

June 2009--I had lost about 20, 25 pounds and was feeling good.
Yes, my eyes are naturally that color.

This was taken in 2006, when I was living in Washington. It was a
long-time favorite.

Round face, blonde hair. This is probably in 2008 (that's definitely my
Stockton apartment).

Going for the sexy hair in...2007?

So those are my "before" pics. Now, take a look at my face.

May 2011. Darker hair, slimmer face.

Tonight. Lowest weight since...college? High school? Probably high
school.
From here on out, every pound loss is a new low weight. I'm super-excited and feeling very good about my progress!

I'm more comfortable in my fat body than I ever was before, but the weight in my face bothers me the most. I don't even know why. Maybe it's cause I feel like I look older or something. lol Either way I can relate!

I was just, in general, not happy with myself at my heaviest. But the difference in my face feels the most dramatic of all the weight loss and I love it!

The face is the place where I can see it most on myself as well. The face is the part our bodies that we see the most and notice changes the quickest. Well except that my old pants are getting pretty baggy :-)

You have made great progress and will reach your goal!
