My Week In Pictures

It's been ages since I've done a week in pictures post! I was feeling very camera-happy this week, so...here you go. (Beware, I took a lot!)

Monday

Stamps and other stuff I listed on eBay this week.

I helped my friend with some grading. The columns are my way of keeping
track of whether or not students included all pertinent info in their paper.
Notice the ever-present tea mug and Chapstick.

I put my favorite little inspirational message up on the cabinet.

Shiny Girl with frizzy hair goes to choir rehearsal.  I'm in love with my new
sweater. It matches my eyes!

Before rehearsal...this is the choir room at Sac State.

That night, I was graced with Bella's presence on my bed (a rare occurance,
indeed).

Millie and Bella. Millie's back looks all greasy from her recent flea treatment.
Tuesday:

Tuesday dawned a bit overcast. Later that day we got our first rain of the
season. It lasted 'til Thursday. Happy Meg.

Tuna Time. The red plastic place mat was added by me a couple weeks ago
after Dad asked me to find a way to feed the cats in a way that we wouldn't
have cat food all over the floor.

The Queen gets fed on the table. Don't worry, we rarely eat off of it, and
always wash it first.

Big, painful bruise I gave myself by banging my arm against a door handle.
I'm particularly talented at that.
Everything is better when there's Tetley in my favorite mug.

All I need for quiche.

Spinach and feta quiche in cupcake tins. Yummy!

Wednesday:

We had a brief break in the rain Wednesday morning, but it came back after
my 4.25 mile walk.

House key? Check. iPod? Check.

It's really pretty around here.

There's a large golf course and a lot of wetland preserve running through
the neighborhood. There are tons of footpaths and it's easy to get lost.

I came across a fallen tree. I felt the branches of it lookin' at meeee. (My
Keane friends will get this.)

This is called Mallard Lake.

Off in the distance, to the right, you can faintly see the smallest independent
mountain range in the world, the Sutter Buttes.

Wednesday night, I went to a special, invite-only screening of a new
musical at the California Museum. This quilt is on display. Gorgeous.

James Cameron is in the "California Hall of Fame." This ship wheel and the
device in the next pic were actually used in the movie "Titanic."

The musical was about a Japanese family in an internment camp during
World War II. The museum has an excellent display.

George Takei is involved in the musical, and he came to say a few words.

Takei was in a camp as a boy, and he remembers being led off by US Army
soldiers, leaving his home, and the uncertainty and fear.

He was very gracious with all of the fans. I didn't get to speak with him, but
I did get within a few feet.

Thursday:

I took one picture on Thursday. Of empty litter boxes. I dumped all of the old
liners and litter out, then washed each box out with Pine Sol, put new liners in,
and new litter. Those cats had better appreciate me.
 Friday:

I cleaned Mom and Dad's room and bathroom on Friday. Looks very nice!

Sparkling clean bathroom floor (the bath rugs were hanging to dry on the
clothes line after being washed).

I did three loads of laundry and hung them out. Love the clothesline!

Shaggy, overgrown lawn that went two weeks without getting mowed.

I snapped a pic of our front yard and kitchen window on my way back from
the mailbox.

Freshly mowed grass. I even used the edger and cleaned up my mess with
the leaf blower! Turns out I rock at yard work.

I was very good about keeping the neighborhood
finches in food.

Our bird bath. A week ago, I found it dried up, and the little water pipe
on the ground. I reattached it to the duck and now everything is golden.

We have a nice yard. It was super-quiet outside today and a touch cool
despite the sun. I love days like this!

On the patio table, a pottery cat that I made years and years (and years) ago.

After a busy morning of cleaning, I relaxed with North and South (yay,
Richard Armitage!) in the afternoon.

I also caught up on People Magazine.
 Saturday:

No pics today. I spent my day cleaning, grocery shopping and trying to make my back not hurt. Oy vey.
