A Lazy Afternoon with Toby Stephens

This morning, of course, found me driving to Modesto to teach a 20-minute lesson to some really cute kids. I think it went alright, so now we just wait and see. And wait. And see. Monday, another interview, two-and-a-half hours away.

I fully intended to stop by the gym on my way home but found myself so flippin' tired, I just came home. I ended up on the couch with a cup of tea, a sandwich (tomato, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, a tiny bit of cream cheese and bacon on whole grain, double-fiber bread--yummy!) and some Jane Eyre in the DVD player. I recently fell in love with the 2006 BBC adaptation starring Toby Stephens as Rochester and Ruth Wilson as Jane Eyre.

I've watched it a few times in recent weeks, so I have no regrets that I fell asleep, only waking up for the good part at the end.  I had the blinds closed, the air conditioner on, and all the lights off. I had a cat on either side of me. Life is good.

This evening I watched The Great Gatsby (2000), an A&E adaptation. I rented it because it stars the very same Toby Stephens from Jane Eyre. I've recently discovered this delicious British man--son of Dame Maggie Smith, no less--and I am smitten. He is absolutely gorgeous.

So here are some picture of him as Jay Gatsby.

Lovely.

I agree with your opinions of the fabulous Toby Stephens. I do hope he and Ruth Wilson star again in a period production. They had great chemistry and are both stellar actors. There are none better.
