Celebrating Stockton: Downtown On A Sunny Day

I had an errand to run in Downtown Stockton today--getting fingerprinted for some volunteer work I want to do at the public library--and I thought it might be nice to park several blocks away from the police station and walk. It had been pointed out this morning that there haven't been very many new pics of the five Swimmy Ducks of late, so I asked Cali if he'd like to ride along. He's always up for an adventure.

I parked at the north end of Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza, a small park with an empty fountain, which makes me sad. I suppose it's broken and no one can afford to fix it.

However, all is not lost in the small plaza--it has been absolutely covered in "graffiti" recently...

LOVE! I've heard of people knitting "graffiti" to beautify
places, and I love that it's come to Stockton.

Cali Swimmy does not approve of waterless fountains...

...or restrictions on swimming.

There was knitting all over the plaza, and I had a big
smile on my face.

As Amanda said when I posted this on Facebook,
"You're a duck, not a monkey!"

They really got into it.

St. John's is kind enough to rent it's hall to Chorale for
our weekly rehearsals. It's no longer Episcopal, though.

The Stockton Hotel...sadly, mostly empty.

The dome is where our downtown movie theater is. You can see the spire
to St. John's to the left of the pic.

Sometimes Cali gets a little wistful that he can't fly.

I love that the park at Weber Point is being used. There were TONS of children
racing around and laughing. Lots of parents sitting in the shade.

At the war memorial.

I had never encountered this in my downtown wanderings before today.

The library.

A great sign I've been meaning to get a picture of.

I met up with Rosie again and headed home, stopping only to take one more
sign pic I've been meaning to get for ages now.
I usually drive by this on my way home from Chorale, when it's dark.
