The Weeks Ahead

I can hardly believe it, but I'm staring down my Epic week of Mumford and Maayan and--this will sound crazy--I'm not ready!!

Of course, I'm ready for the fun and the excitement, but there's more to it than that. I need to clean! I need to have food on hand! I need to make plans with Meghan for Monday's concert and make sure that Mom and Dad have a day to drop off Bella and Duchess before leaving on a road trip sometime in the next week. I'm helping with Adoption Day, and there's Chorale rehearsal and music librarian duties, and eBay listings and job hunting, and...well, you get the picture. So much to do! And let's not forget that I have to work out every day. Well, six days a week.

When I mention cleaning, I can hear Maayan's eyes rolling all the way across the country. It's not like my apartment is a pigsty, either. But before she gets here, I want to make sure that the couch doesn't have crumbs in it (when I fold it out for her to sleep on) and that the cat hair is at a minimum. I don't want sticky floors or mold in the bathroom or anything like that. Which is hilarous, because I rarely allow my apartment to get sticky or moldy or crumb-y. Nonetheless, before Maayan can come visit, I must clean.

So this week will be busy--I've got more music to hand out for Chorale, which means picking some up from the Chorale office, and digging some out of the basement of the church where we rehearse and store our music. There will be figuring out who needs what and all of that good stuff.

I've offered to help out at Saturday's Adoption Day for AFC, and on Friday, I'd like to hang out at the annual Stockton Asparagus Festival for an hour or two.

As mentioned, Mom and Dad are going on a road trip soon--exact departure date unknown as yet. They plan on stopping in Las Vegas, NV and Albequerque, NM before going to Fort Worth, TX. Dad was stationed out there at Carswell AFB early in their marriage, when Aaron was a baby. After Texas, they'll drive north to Omaha, Dad's next assignment, where Yours Truly happened to make an appearance in the world for the first time. On their way back west they'll stop in Salt Lake City to see Dad's family, and veer north to Idaho to visit my brother and his family before heading back to California. I'm sad that I can't go with them but someone has to watch the cats, and I do get two Mumford and Sons concerts. I've been promised a Nebraska hoodie for my trouble (that's all I want--a hoodie from my birth place) and Mom and Dad are supplying me with plenty of cat litter and food.

So this week, really, won't be too busy, but next week, well that's going to be epic.

This is how it's looking:

Monday: Santa Barbara Mumford concert with Meghan

Tuesday: Recover, clean, Chorale rehearsal

Wednesday: Meet up with my friend Sarah in San Francisco. We taught together at St. Peter's in England, so it will be lovely to see her again after all this time.

Wednesday night: Pick up Maayan at the airport.

Thursday: Drive to Oakland and queue, queue, queue before the concert. Crash in a hotel that night.

Friday: Beach. Any beach. But I'm leaning towards showing Maayan the gorgeous and lovely Monterey. It's a bit of a drive but we can stop for garlic ice cream in Gilroy on the way home.

Saturday: Take Maayan to airport. : (

Sunday: Normal cage-cleaning duties at PetCo.

It will be crazy, fun, and there will be tons of pictures and stories to blog once I've recovered from it all!

Our Meg, the OCD cleaner! Go ahead and indulge, dear... you'll feel better. But know those rolling eyes across the country mean that your friends love you AND your crumbs!
;-)
