Right, so Ocean Girl loves the ocean in a big way, and is hardly going to get that close to it without a few minutes of sand-in-toes, hear-the-waves-crash good times.
After visiting the Marine Mammal Center yesterday, I drove a short way to a parking lot near Rodeo Cove. There is a beach there, and a lagoon that is actually a protected environment. Because of its proximity to the Marine Mammal Center, this beach is actually used quite often for returning seals and sea lions back to the wild.
Yesterday, the only animals around were dogs and small children. And, of course, one small rubber duck.

The hills of the Marin Headlands, lovely and green after recent rains. |
Ahh, the Pacific. |
Crash! |
California may be an economic mess, but I still maintain it is one of the
most incredibly, diversely beautiful states in the country. |
Part of the lagoon and the beach beyond. |
So pretty! |
Fort Chronkite is near the beach. |
More of the lagoon. |
I love the green and yellow set against the brown. |
The wide part of the lagoon. |
Looking back at the fort and the parking lot. |

Waves |

A freighter heading into San Francisco Bay. |
Life is good! |
Have you noticed that I'm completely unashamed to take out a
rubber duck and photograph myself with it in front of other people? |
This dog was loving life, playing fetch in the foam. |
Digging for treasure. |
Another dog lovin' life. |
Receding wave. |
Probably the happiest moment in a very good day. |
Or maybe this was it (that water is cold, by the way). |
Swimmy is used to calmer waters,
but was pleased to put his ducky bottom in the foam. |
After using a small towel I'd brought along to get the sand out of my toes,
I carefully put my socks and shoes back on (good balance, for the win!). |
One last pic before getting back in Rosie Pro and moving on. |
Next post: Point Bonita.
