Fan-Girl, Part...Oh, Eleventy-Billion

Here's the thing about Keane: They're just so accessible. Especially Richard, the drummer. Today marked the third time he has responded to a Tweet I've sent his way on Twitter.

My friend Lindsay set up an awesome shop on CafePress (it was the idea of a few fans, after a t-shirt design contest in the fall at Keane's official web site). There are some great designs (and then, there's the super-ridiculous, amateur design that I did not submit to the competition, but did submit to Lindsay the other day based on a little idea that popped into my brain).

Anyway, check it out. All proceeds go to Amnesty International, which Richard has done a lot of work for.

What was my design? Well...

See? Super-cheesy. The idea came from the sense of frustration many Keane fans get when asked who their favorite band is. We reply, "Keane," and we're usually met with, "Who?" Most everyone has heard "Somewhere Only We Know," but they know nothing about the band behind it.

I drew a cartoon owl using Microsoft Paint, inserted the words, and voila! Done. (If you think I'm an obsessed fan, well, just trust me that there are worse out there.)

In the end, what's the best part of being "Re-tweeted" by Richard is not so much that he noticed me, but that he has spread the word about the shop to other fans who follow him, who may not otherwise have known about it. Lindsay has done a similar shop for fans of the TV show "Supernatural," and they have raised over $50,000 for charity. That's just awesome.
