Sell, Sell, Sell!

Right, so the post below, about CafePress, was posted because doing that got me a deal--a free $30 to buy one of my own designs! I also bought an ornament with a design by my friend Lindsay, so it was quite a deal.

This week has been a week of action. Okay, my blogging has suffered, but I have been busy as a bee on eBay. I spent a lot of time on Monday and Tuesday listing new items and relisting stuff that didn't sell last time. Then I started thinking about promoting my sales.

I opened a second Twitter account (so that I don't drive my friends crazy) and I've been posting links to things I'm selling at various times of day because I found out that this makes my items get 30 views instead of two or three. Adding a #hashtag makes that word a link, and anyone looking for Tweets about Snoopy, for example, can find my Tweets whether they follow me or not. I'm convinced it's what's driven my eBay sales this week...because since Monday, I've made $99.38, and I keep getting emails that another item has sold.

And yes, I'm selling Snoopy stuff. My collection got so out of hand over the years that I weeded some things out and I've been slowly selling it off for a while now. Mostly the cheaper stuff. The things my parents have given me, the antiques I've unearthed in antique shops, those will stay. The mugs and McDonald's glasses from my childhood will stay. But I'm not gonna lie--for a few years there, whenever I saw something with Snoopy on it, I bought it without thinking. I ended up with a lot of stuff I didn't really want or need.

My Etsy shop is slower. I've driven up views on items by posting links on Twitter, but no bites yet. This coming week I'll focus on promoting that and making sure my listings are as visible as possible. Someone besides my friend Lindsay has to buy from me soon, right? Well, that's not entirely true. Mom and Dad, Summer, and Maayan all commissioned cards outside of Etsy.

Anywho, it's kind of fun, and it makes me feel like I'm working from home. So if you should find you need a teapot, a kid's book about Mozart, or some other item, check out my eBay listings.

You can also check out my Etsy shop (link at the top of the left hand navigation bar!).
