My parents and I drove up to Apple Hill today. Apple Hill is a growers association in Placerville, California, and entails about 50 independent farms. The primary focus is, of course, apples, but there are also wineries, Christmas tree farms, and other produce.
Fall is the best time for Apple Hill--it's prime apple time, and the fall colors are at their best. California has nothing on New England's fall fabulosity, but we do have some lovely maples that catch fire.
Without further ado, let me give you my pictures. : )
Some lovely fall color in Placerville:
We had lunch at Sweetie Pie's, and it was delicious.
Apple Hill is in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, so there are evergreens and fall colors everywhere.
High Hill Ranch:
This is a big deal: I bought my first-ever pair of skinny jeans this week, and wore them in public. My tummy still needs some work, but at least I don't weigh as much as that pumpkin.
I recently bought a larger memory disk for my camera, enabling me to up the pixels on pictures...RESULTS!
After High Hill, we went to Boa Vista. I bought cider and mulling spices, and apple cookies (which I haven't eaten yet...you'll see why).
Brussells sprouts!
Some of these, I swear, were the size of human babies.
If you don't know why I took a picture of this, you're not a Keane fan.
Our last stop was our favorite place, Abel's Apple Acres:
This is why I haven't yet eaten those cookies: a massive slice of apple pumpkin (yes, APPLE PUMPKIN!!) pie with vanilla ice cream. I also haven't had dinner. I'm still full.
Mom and Dad had plain apple pie.
Hay maze!
On our way back down the road, Dad stopped so I could get some pics of this gorgeous winery in all it's fall splendour.
