It Was Inevitable

Eventually, Millie's curiousity always gets the better of her.

Last night, I let the Peanuts Gang have some play time in the 2nd bedroom before bed. I like to get them good and tuckered out, so they'll go right to bed when its time. Otherwise, Lucy cries at the door. And cries.

It's heartbreaking.

Anyway, Millie has pretty much ignored the babies, aside from the occasional curious sniff at the bathroom door. She hasn't shown any signs of dismay or bad humor, and I almost wonder if she even realizes that these little fuzzbutts are actually cats (or cats-in-training, because really, they're sooo not cats yet!).

Last night, she went into the 2nd bedroom while the babies were playing. Before their astonished eyes, she gracefully leapt up onto the piano--I assured the gang that one day, they will be that agile and powerful, too--and perched there, watching the goings-on below.

After handling the babies, who are lighter than air, Millie, my skinny girl at about 8-10 pounds (she fluctuates), feels like a bag of bricks. Harley, weighing in at 13-14 pounds (vet says he's healthy!), is an absolute mammoth compared to the Peanuts Gang.

Here's a 12-second snippet of Millie watching them:

Later (after it's uploaded to YouTube), I'll share a longer video. For now, enjoy one of my all-time favorite mama cat/baby cat videos from YouTube:

Awwwww... so sweet! I wonder if she'll try to mother them at some point. You just never know. I had an old neuter who LOVED kittens and took as good care of them as any lady cat I've ever seen!

And I LOVE that clip!! Haven't seen it since it went viral. Just peeked - 5.5 million views, not counting the mpg files that must have visited millions of inboxes!!

I don't know, Lisa. Maybe, but I'm leaning on the side of doubt. She grooms Harley sometimes, and he grooms her back. I think mostly she's just sort of confused about exactly what the babies are!

Harley is still scared of them and runs away like a big baby when approached (usually by Lucy--little girl is FEARLESS).
