Hop Sing Palace

For over twenty years, my family has enjoyed Chinese Food at Hop Sing Palace in Folsom. It is, hands down, the best Chinese food we've been able to find anywhere in the states (after one particularly memorable meal in Seattle--which was frighteningly awful, we gave up looking). When we moved back to California in 2006, we knew we'd have the occasional visit to Hop Sing, even if it meant a 40-minute drive.

We went there for Father's Day a couple of weeks ago, and, as ever, the manager recognized us and greeted us with his usual cheerful smile and happy cry of, "So good to see you!!" When we first started eating there, he was a busboy. Then a waiter. Now he runs the place--it's a family business.

The food is always excellent. The decor has never changed. We always have green tea and wonton soup, and we almost always settle on getting a family dinner with fried rice, chicken chow mein, fried prawns, broccoli beef, and sweet and sour pork. Servings are huge, and we always have some left over to take home.

I love Hop Sing!
