RIP, John Hughes
Yesterday, the world lost the man who brought us Sixteen Candles, Pretty In Pink, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Uncle Buck, and many other classics in his directing and producing career.
I don't know of any woman my age who doesn't remember, with fondness, her girlhood crush on Jake Ryan, or her horrified laughter at poor Samantha getting felt up by her grandmother.
I think we all secretly wanted that wonderful, awful, craptastic pink dress that Andy wore to prom. And most of us Shameless Jezebels would have picked sweet, loyal Duckie over what's-his-name the rich guy. Because Duckie had moves.
Bueller?
Bueller?
We all wanted to have his day off.
With the passing of John Hughes, we lose the man who gave us these classic images from the Eighties. Rest In Peace, Mr. Hughes. You won't be forgotten by those of us who grew up with your wonderful creations.
