A Budding Jezebel?

This week, I had my kids design flags. Some of them, of course, don't take it seriously. But some do, and Mary (not her real name) is no exception. Below is how she answered the fill-in activity for her flag (her answers are underlined, the rest is my prompt). All grammar is kept as she wrote it. The only change I made was to the name of her country, because it was her last name.

My flag is for the country of P-----. It represents my interest in power. I am interested in lady power because men think they are more powerful than women. My flag has an image of a heart because of love and power.

My flag has the colors pink, black, blue and red. I used the color red because I feel it had power to it. I used the color black because it is a sign of no fear. I used the color pink because it represents love.

I like my flag because it shows the sign of women and power to women and that men are not powerful over women.

This is one of our smarter kids. According to her language arts teacher, her research paper, about her former gang member father, brought the teacher to tears--and that was just the rough draft.

This girl is going places.
