There's a 2nd grade girl I tutored in reading during the first half of this year. She's a sweet kid, but I have noticed she has a need for attention, and will cry at the drop of a pin, or feign injury. This morning as I let myself in the gate at school (which happens to be on the primary playground), I saw her walking slowly, favoring one foot slightly. When she saw me, I smiled and said, "Good morning." Suddenly, her limp was far more pronounced, now that she had an adult's attention. I just shook my head and kept walking. I'm not falling for that one! |
